I CANNOT CALL A VET, THE CLOSEST ONE IS HOURS AWAY. Anyway, my first kitten is 1 year old, 17 pounds, and has a short, stocky build. The other one is 1 year old as well, 13 pounds, and has a thin, long build. They are brothers and have tapeworms. PLEASE DO NOT SAY CALL A VET, I CAN’T.

Hi my 6 month old kitten recovered from a long (2 month) eye infection just a couple of days back, but since last two days she has become very active, she climbing everywhere, trees, the doors, basically everywhere, what i’m worried about is that she’s biting when she’s being pet.
Shall i be worried about this?

    Hi,

About a month ago I adopted two kittens. One was orphaned and hand raised from a week old, she is approx 12 weeks old now. The other was also orphaned and found as a feral kitten at about 5 weeks, also hand raised from that time, she is approx 14 weeks now. What I wonder is about the 14wk old, she at first was very timid, wouldn’t go near anyone or anything at her foster home, since coming to my house (which is quieter) she has really come out of her shell which is great but my concern is this: she constantly licks, and in the night when i’m trying to sleep not only does she lick but she bites really hard and pounces even when i’m not moving. I’ve tried getting up to play with her, feeding her, cuddling her, she doesn’t seem to want any of this. She’s purring really loudly the whole time so I don’t think it’s aggressive (though her tail is swishing as well) Then I thought maybe it was a nursing instinct but the other one doesn’t do any of this and shes younger. It’s been a long while since I had kittens and I just wonder if anyone has any advice? I’ve gotten to the point where I put them both in the hall so I can get some sleep but i’d prefer not to have to isolate them. Thanks!
Sorry I should have said she’s licking and biting ME, if it were just herself i’d assume she were just grooming.

oh my gosh I am freaking out. My family moved into my current house a month ago and I have never dealt with mice or anything of the sort before. I am terrifed of mice and when I was following my kitten to grab what I THOUGHT was a cotton ball out of her mouth, I saw a mouse and freaked the fuck out.

I am 17 and my familly literally JUST left to see a movie and I am locked in my room shaking. I am sorry I sound so silly, but I am a huge baby lol. My dad mentioned that he caught my kitten with a mouse before but that was in our celler. THIS mouse got caught in my ROOM

I am so disgusted and i am scared they are everywhere and I don’t know what to do with the mouse my kitten has in a different room and I think I am going to wait until my dad gets home to deal with it.

I am just freaking out right now answer me this:
    1. Are there mice all throughout the house and possibly still in my room? Disgusting……
    2. What should I do. can I let my cat hang with the dead mouse until my parents get home?
    3. Is this normal?

ahhhhh every noise I think it is a mouse, this house is so scary now

Can you create some names for the 3 kittens I have ?

    1 Orange Tabby – Male
    1 Orange Tabby – Female
    1 Solid Black – Male

Do you think you can come up with some great names? I’m just not that good with names.

I was trying to think up names that are sort of witchy and magical. Like fantasy names, or any names that you think would be nice.

My 16 year old son made his first kill hunting. He shot a feral hog and was thrilled. The shot obviously didn’t flatten him – the pig ran about 30 yards before it died. He also shot an armadillo and has been feeling extreme remorse because he thinks both suffered before they died. This trip was emotional because he’s never killed anything before. We cooked some of the pig on the BBQ pit and he ate it which made him feel better and but he’s been very upset about the armadillo – he said he won’t ever shoot anything again just to kill it which is good but he can’t seem to get the image of the armadillo struggling before it died out of his mind. Any of you hunters out there got advice I can give him to make him feel a bit better? I told him a coyote or bobcat would come eat it (we live in Texas) so it wouldn’t go to waste. Thanks!

ok, so i got a kitten. he learned how to retract his claws a few days ago, now he’s climbing everything.
heres the question: how do i teach him to be a good hunter?
i need him to be a merciless, resiliant, bird killing machine.
i also need him to run towards noise, rather than away from it, as he seems to be scared of noise.
objective target: crows (thats why i need him to be tough)
so how do i train him to do this?

Yesterday morning my little six month old boy kitten (his name is Leo) came running in through the pet door with a bird in his mouth. And this wasn’t some baby bird that had fallen out of it’s nest but a full-sized sparrow. How he caught it I have no idea. Still, the little guy was so pleased and proud of his catch that he just had to show it to me I suppose. Because the bird was still alive I tried to take it out of his mouth but the kitten backed away and ran back outside with the bird still in his mouth.

So, is my little kitty no longer a kitten? Is he an official, full time grown up cat now? And what age would a six month old cat be in human age? I’m just wondering because these two kittens (the other is his sister from the same litter) I have are the first cats I’ve ever raised from small kittens.
    1. I don’t know if he actually ate the bird or not because I haven’t seen leftover feathers in the yard. 2. In a neighborhood where every other house has a dog in the yard pests and varmints like racoons, possums and snakes are not a problem. 3. I doubt if in-door cats live on average two-thirds longer than in-door/outdoor cats. 4. And as to quotes how about this one: “The only thing that belongs in a cage is a person that puts things in cages.”

I can understand someone living in a large apartment complex in a crowded city keeping a cat indoors for it’s own safety..but not someone living in a suburb with homes with large yards.
Yeah, Kit Kat, the mother was feral. She was raising the four kittens under a neighbor’s house. Then she was hit by a car. The neighbor was going to take the kittens to the pound. Another neighbor took two of the kittens. I took the other two, the only boy and a sister, the runt of the litter. She’s not a runt any more, still she’s small, about eight pounds. Leo weighs eleven pounds now.
First, I want to thank each of you who took the time to reply here. There really were no wrong answers and I thank you all. If I could the ‘best’ answer would be a tie between Puppy and Kit Kat, but as you all know Yahoo isn’t democratic that way.

I tried spraying her with a water bottle and it doesn’t seem to faze her at all. She just looks at me and then keeps doing whatever it was she wasn’t supposed to do.

My older cat is well behaved, but I never had to use anything but the water bottle with her.

Whenever I take out some candy she is always begging for it. I tell her no and she doesn’t listen. She jumped on my back just for it. Then this morning, I was eating breakfast and I said no to her for having some and she walked away. I walked into my room after that and she had messed it up. She knocked books off my bed and dragged my clothes out. What can I do to make her stop this? I really love her and don’t want to give her up! Thanks!
    She is 8 weeks…

I’ve asked this before but got the answer “I don’t know”. If you don’t know don’t answer! Anyway I am getting kittens in about 6 weeks and I have 3 dumbo rats. How can I introduce them safely to each other? I’d really appreciate helpful answers from people who have done this successfully because I know it can be done!

My 3 year old says ‘biggie’ instead of big. She’s the ‘biggie sister’ and her room is a ‘biggie mess’. I’v found myself using it, even when she’s not around! Not only that, but so does my hubby and all his family (sister, mother etc). Does anyone else do this and what word do you now use?
ADD – Jeez everyone is so serious! I’m not worried about it, I think it’s funny. I wanted to lighten the mood around here, not bring all the super-parents out with the torches and pitchforks.
Mrs Charli – exactly, that’s how i feel.

Our kitten is trained using her kitty litter, their hasnt been an accident in the last 6 weeks, so we thought we would now try to move her outside, as she loves being being outside.

How do we make the move? Do we put the container outside?

Basically she’ll be outside for a few hours then come up to the front door to come inside just to go toilet it the litter box.

    Any suggestions will help
    Thanks =]

Last month we adopted a male kitten from the local humane society. He is approx. 6 month old and nothing, but a huge bundle of unrelenting energy. His average day is spent running around the house, chewing on anything he can find and he seems to enjoy knocking things over. He loves playing, with him the fun never stops. At anytime at night he can pounce on you and go into play attack mode. I know a certain amount of energy is to be expected from a cat, but this cat never stops. His energy level is way above and beyond that of any cat I’ve ever cared for 24/7 365 so far. When we come home at night its typical to find the trash can knocked over, his food every where and something chewed to bits. He is neutered, caught up on all his shots and went to the vet just 2 weeks ago. According to the humane society the cat is first generation domesticated ( parents were feral) although this cat has been domesticated from day one. Could this be part of it? We’ve tried everything we can think of to curtail some of his behavior, including, treats, telling him no, and trying to redirect his energy. I love this cat dearly, but its been quite a task with him so far. Any suggestions would help (fyi we don’t believe in negative reinforcment, Ie no water bottle spraying or anything like that) and I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I found a 9 week old male kitten in my backyard and brought him in, took him to the vet and isolated him in a the living room. I have a 2 year old Bengal cat and he didn’t get along with 2 much older female cats he was with before we adopted him. I don’t know how to introduce them. I know they can smell each other and they didn’t act weird so last night I put the kitten in my existing cats carrier (I had no other) and let them meet without contact but my cat hates his carrier so once he saw it he sprinted upstairs. Today, my brother thought it was be smart (sarcasim) to let them meet without any barriers so once he saw hunter (existing cat) and put down Maro (stray kitten) in the hallway. Their tails got really big and hunter was going to pounce so my brother quickly stuffed Maro back in the living room before a squabble could start. We definitely are NOT giving hunter away but we also have grown too attached to this kitten.
***BTW*** the kitten is not yet neutered, he will be though..
***AND*** the kitten has been in the room for almost 2 weeks now, he is also now staying on my room. I moved his stuff in yesterday.
Thank you so much on any input put forth, I greatly appreciate it 🙂

We recently adopted a 13 week old kitten and named her Millie. She was so outgoing and crazy at th shelter, but now she keeps hiding. I’ve read some stuff and they say this is normal, but she’s being kept in one big room during the day with lots of places to hide, and the bathroom at night with all of her stuff. She loves to hide under the computer table. She’ll let me pet her while she’s there and on the floor, but she doesn’t approach me herself. She purrs when we pet her, but I’m just worried because they say purring can be a sign of distress too. I just want her to be happy and come around! Does anyone have any tips with calming her and helping her come around to me and my family? I have two little brothers, ages 7 and 2. I’ve read about calming collars and sprays, and I was wondering if I should get one?

We’re picking him up tomorrow and he’s orange with tiger – ish stripes, some white around the face. he’s adorable, we wanted to call him tigra, but that’s more for a girl. He’s got 6 claws on his front paws and he’s adorable. Really active, and gives love bites a lot.

Really should be russian, but it could be “tiger” or “prince” in another language.

I just got a female kitten a little over a month ago. She is about 10 weeks old. She has to stay indoors since she is too little and there are other neighborhood cats that I don’t trust. A male cat specifically hangs around our house (he can smell her) She has not been spayed yet, (but will be very soon), but she has been acting aggressive for no reason. She will be nice and let me pet her one minute and the next minute, she bites and scratches at us and jumps around all crazy. Is her behavior like this because she can possibly smell the male cat who hangs around our house? I know getting her spayed will calm her down, but I feel like this male cat has something else to do with her aggressiveness.
