I really like the idea of having a more unusual, flowery, frivolous middle name for a girl. We haven’t decided on the first name yet, waiting to see which name fits her best 🙂

Some middle names that we both like:
    Astoria
    Waverly
    Isadora
    Delphine

Any other suggestions? Think names that are very pretty, but maybe too unusual for a first name, i.e. guilty pleasure names.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

I’m having trouble thinking of names for a character in my story

    Height: 6’3
    Hair Color: Black
    Eye Color: Green
    Build: Muscular
Unique Features: His body covered scars from all the fights he’s been through

Info: He is a man obsessed with power and will do anything to obtain it he is sick and twisted and get great pleasure from torturing people, He will only help people if it benefits him never giving sympathy to those he deems as weak, and will believe himself to be better than you unless proven otherwise

    1.)

Explain in detail the reasons for Howard Roark’s expulsion from the Stanton Institute of Technology. The Dean states that Roark has “a determined little group of defenders” among the faculty, while other professors “felt it their duty” to vote for his expulsion. Why do the faculty members on each side evaluate Roark and his work so differently?

    2.)

At the end of Chapter One, Roark comprehends that there is a fundamental difference between his approach to life and the Dean’s. Roark understands his own, but not that of the Dean and those like him. He recognizes that there is a principle that explains the difference, which he calls the “principle behind the Dean.” Based on subsequent events of the story, explain the “principle behind the Dean.”

    3.)

Peter Keating graduates as valedictorian from the Stanton Institute of Technology. Does this mean that he is an outstanding architectural student? By what methods did he get such high grades? What does this say regarding his moral character?

    4.)

Keating goes to work for Guy Francon, the most successful and prestigious architect in the country. What are the methods by which Francon has achieved commercial success? Does he have anything in common with Keating? In what ways do they both differ from Roark?

    5.)

Roark gains employment with Henry Cameron. Cameron, though a genius, is a commercial failure. Why has society rejected his work? Why does Roark nevertheless revere him? What qualities do Roark and Cameron share in common? What is the fundamental difference between them and Francon and Keating?

    6.)

Citing specifics from the story, describe the means by which Keating seeks to rise to the top of Francon’s firm? Explain the meaning of Keating’s methods. Why do they work at Francon’s? Would Keating’s methods work similarly well at Cameron’s? Why?

    7.)

Though Keating often leaves Catherine Halsey waiting weeks for him to call, the author makes it clear that Catherine is special to him. How does the author show Keating’s love for Catherine? In contrast to Keating’s motive for pursuing his other values (in work, for e.g.), what personal significance does his relationship with Catherine have? What fate will befall Peter if he betrays his love for her?

    8.)

The design of the Cosmo-Slotnick Building establishes Keating’s fame. What is the nature of Keating’s relationship with Roark at this point in the story? Why does Keating both approach him for advice and help and take pleasure in making him perform menial tasks while an employee at Francon’s? Why does Keating feel a need to degrade the man who is his meal ticket?

    9.)

Cameron and Roark, though brilliant designers, get few commissions. At one point, Cameron urges Roark to surrender his principles and design conventionally. Given that Cameron himself neither did nor would do such a thing, what is the meaning of that scene? What does Ayn Rand stress about the price paid by great creative thinkers in a society that does not recognize the merit of their new ideas?

    10.)

Austen Heller hires Roark to build a private home, giving him his first commission. What qualities does Heller possess that enable him to recognize the merit of Roark’s work when virtually the entire society does not? Despite the professional differences between Heller and Roark’s other supporters, e.g., Mike, Mallory, Enright, et. al., what fundamental attribute do they share in common? What point does the author make regarding the ability to recognize genius?

    11.)

The character of Dominique Francon is introduced in this section. Dominique criticizes the work of her own father in her newspaper column and recognizes the fraudulent nature of Keating’s work and character, though many admire him. What does Ayn Rand thereby show the reader about Dominique? Why is this important for the reader’s ability to understand her coming relationship with Roark?

    12.)

Despite extreme poverty, Roark refuses the lucrative commission for the Manhattan Bank Building rather than permit the adulteration of his design. When the Board asserts that he is “fanatical and selfless,” Roark responds that his action was “the most selfish thing you’ve ever seen a man do.” Given that Roark has just turned down a major commission in order to protect the integrity of his design, what is “selfish” about this? What is Ayn Rand’s view of “selfishness” and “selflessness”? Contrast her view to that of Christianity and of Socialism.

    13.)

Compare Howard Roark and Lois Cook. Are they both individualists? Why or why not?

Okay. Before you read this, I just want you to know that I don’t want to get this published. It’s something I write for fun. Also, it is about vampires and if you have a problem with that, you might as well leave this question now. I’m not interested in what you have to say about it being on vampires, all I want is some opinions on the piece. (Sorry if I sound grumpy, I’m just getting a bit sick of it).

So, this is in the third chapter and it does get a little bit sexual (nothing too raunchy) and violent. Dominique is the vampire and main character, and Joshua is a human. She had always thought of him as an ally, and he thinks of her as a friend.

Suddenly, a knock echoed off the door. Even I hadn’t seen it coming, and I pouted my lips as the annoyance returned to my stomach. I wasn’t in the mood to be disturbed.
When I opened the door, Joshua was standing there.
My mouth was about to fall open and ask him what the hell he was doing here, when his lips crashed down on mine. At first they were wary, and I’m sure he was certain I would throw him off of me. But I couldn’t stop my lips reacting; it had been many years since I they had been this active on another man’s. The lust slithered through my body as my hand found the front of his white T-Shirt and grasped it.
When Joshua realized I was kissing him in return, he slipped one of his hands around my face, drew his fingers through my hair and clutched strands.
His tongue found mine and they danced together, and I felt it trace my angular fangs. Both of my hands came up to his thick arms, grasping them and loving the thick flesh.
Trying to guess his next move, I arched closer to his body and breathed Joshua in. A tickle spread over my nose as I savored his delicious fragrance, locking it in my memory.
Our lips slightly met again, but they parted when we began to hurriedly move backwards, towards my bed.
His lips smiled on mine, and I turned so that I could push him onto the mattress. Straddling his waist, Joshua sat up and cupped my cheek so that he could lightly peck my lips. We reluctantly detached our lips as Joshua shuffled his shirt off and threw it to the floor.
I took a mental picture of Joshua’s body as I grabbed his shoulders, my lips pressing down hard on his. Joshua and I only separated our lips when we needed to gasp for air, one of his hands holding my cheek and the other supporting my back.
My lips traveled down his cheek and to his jawline, leaving a trail of kiss until I found his neck. Coming to a halt, I inhaled deeply, my body quivering as Joshua’s scent rolled into my nose. As a tingle swept over my gum and my canines lengthened, I realized that the longing for Joshua’s blood was the strongest urge I had ever felt. The fragrance was utterly delicious and being so close to the source was even better than in the bar, it was overpowering. Not being able to resist, I pecked Joshua’s jugular and urgently gnawed on it, receiving gasps from Joshua.
One of my fangs penetrated his skin, drawing a slight amount of blood. Joshua’s body shook in pain, grabbing my waist and trying to force me off of him. There was no way I could stop now. Joshua’s blood flowed into my mouth, it’s flavour almost indescribable. The sweetness fought with how sour it was — bittersweet blood. Sinking my other canine in made Joshua yelp.
“Dominique, what are you doing!” Joshua breathed through clenched teeth, again trying to pry me off. It was futile.
My pure hunger suffocated Joshua’s screams and words, the world around me dissolved and nothing seemed to matter as this entrancing liquid slipped from his body. Just like a snake belonged in the jungle, as this slithered down my throat, it belonged in me.
Clasping his shoulders to keep him from struggling made me think that my Allure made it all too easy, and took all of the fun out of it. His hand curled around the sheets and his body got limper. Driving all of my teeth into his throat, a hoarse and hopeless sound made his lips part.
“Dom, please, s-stop!” Joshua’s muffled voice tried to make me listen to his pleas. Joshua. The name sounded familiar, but as the crimson blood rushed into my mouth, a surge of pleasure swept through me and I just couldn’t care.
Joshua’s throat made my groan muffled and one of my hands glided up from his shoulder and clutched the back of his hair roughly. As Joshua’s blood rolled down his bare back and onto the white sheets bellow us, I had to admit that I was being extremely messy.
    His blood. Joshua’s blood.
It hit me like a gust of air, almost knocking me back. My elixir that contained the fine and exotic wine wasn’t just a human, it was Joshua.
Trying to wrench my teeth out of Joshua was a hopeless attempt, and my animal instincts denied me doing anything that I willed. My hand came down to his neck and clasped it, Joshua’s life kept entering my mouth as I ached to have every last drop in my mouth, but also frantic to stop.
But as his hands loosened their grip on the sheets and his body slumped, the thought dawned on me that I might not be able to stop.

So, what do you think (;? I appreciate the help, thanks in advance.

would having anal sex make a person have bowel movements more often then normal?

basiclly I just want to know if it is common for my girl to constant movements for sometime after we have anal sex?
I dont know if I worded my question right or not because so far most of the answers are the opposite from what I’m asking about.

Before we have anal she empties her bowels and then we do our thing. Afterwards she will have a watery bowel release and be fine the rest of the night. Then starting a day or 2 after having anal sex she starts having very frequent bowel movemnts mostly very small ones and 1 or 2 bigger ones. She then has 5 or more movements everyday for at least a week straight. Is that normal or is there something wrong?

I am just wondering if I am the only person out there who feels like revenge. I have been screwed around, mistreated and belittled by someone and they have gotten away with it completely. They have even moved on to a great job, new car, $$$ and i am left with the pieces. This person has been careful to never put things in writing and is a skilled bull-shit’ter and i am afraid it seems he will get away with everything. i don’t want to get into details here, but he has royally screwed me and been nasty beyond words. what can i do? do i ring up his new boss? do i undermine him somehow? how do i do this? should i bother? i would wipe the floor with him if i could, but i have not had the chance. what would you suggest? learn to forgive???
No, I can’t let him succeed. I have to screw with him. That’s how I feel. I can’t let him move on. He has screwed me proper and I can’t let it go…
Yes, you make a good point, Andrew. I was bullied at school too. I have sort of forgiven that and moved on. I have not let it torture me. I don’t feel so forgiving with this guy though. He has been a real nasty pig to me. And he is getting away with it!!! How can I seek revenge? And if not, how can I move on and forgive or forget????!!!!

    What should I read next?
Since Christmas, I’ve read these books:

Inferno by Dan Brown (F), Professor Langdon and a beautiful national are on the run looking for clues in artwork and Dante’s Inferno to save the world from nefarious ne’erdowells.

Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner’s Semester at American’s Holiest University (NF) by Kevin Roose, a liberal student at Brown decides to do a cultural exchange and enrolls at Liberty U. trying his best to go blend in.

Don’t Order Dog by CT Wente, (F) A barista’s international secret admirer penpal gets really creepy in a Homeland Security kind of way.

Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo, (NF) A pastor’s 4 year old son dies and goes to Heaven but comes back to tell the tale.

Monster by Frank E. Perretti (F) Christian Fiction adventure starring Big Foot!

La Scaphandre Et Le Papillon (NF) Jean Dominique Bauby, French (The Scuba Suit and the Butterfly) A long depressing memoir about a French magazine editor who had a stroke and woke up able only to blink. It was in French and isn’t exactly a pleasure book, but Mom and I have a deal. If I read one book in French a month, I wouldn’t have to take AP French. So yeah, um don’t know if you should even include this when giving a recommendation

Sycamore Row by John Grisham (F) A Time to Kill Part II, 3 years later, a rich old koot committs suicide but leaves a new will giving most of his fortune to his black maid. Family sues. Jake Brigannce back in the limelight.

I tend to alternate between fiction and nonfiction, but this isn’t a hard and fast rule.

I’m looking for some light reading an hour before I go to bed to calm me down after dealing with the stresses of senior year.

Please try to give the books the way I gave the books I wrote. Title, author, Fiction or Non-fiction (F) or (NF), and a 1 or 2 sentence blurb with no spoilers.

    Thanks.
    Thanks of your help
    your pal,

“It is a great pleasure to be here today, to talk about this all-important topic of human welfare and economic stability.

This link is too often neglected, but it is an old idea. Adam Smith—one of the founders of modern economics—recognized clearly that a poor distribution of wealth could undermine the free market system, noting that: “The disposition to admire, and almost to worship, the rich and the powerful and…neglect persons of poor and mean condition…is the great and most universal cause of the corruption of our moral sentiments.”

This was over 250 years ago. In today’s world, these problems are magnified under the lens of globalization.”

It is a great speech/article where he talks about the change in globalization pertaining to the United States especially, and what we should do about it. I am no fan of the IMF, they are sucking third world nations dry and keeping them in poverty. But this article is great, I was very surprised. That is the intro, read the article and tell me what you think.

Padre Magnum- Is this what you mean? http://www.brettonwoodsproject.org/art.shtml?x=15709

Ok, so he deleted his answer, nevermind about Padre…

I’m asking for comments on the whole article, not just the intro that I posted… thanks ahead of time. 🙂

i was wondering. espn did a who’s no 1 list and vince was number 4. how can you have a list with vince is not no1.
thats border line dumb mj wasnt even close to vince carter level of dunking? the 7 foot dunk alone topped any dunk mj has done ever. 360 wind mills (opposite direction), and the dunk he did on a mourning, it looked like he was never coming down. mj was great but espn’s list was better than what im seeing down here.

For anyone who has heard Avant-I can read your mind remix and Pleasure P-Boyfriend# 2, i want songs that sound just like that, freaky songs that are slow but have a catchy beat to it at the same time, like when the part on boyfriend # 2 comes on that goes: ima get the camera(that’s what i mean by catchy beat,) but at the same time i want it to be slow and romantic so if anyone knows of any songs that sound just like those two, then please tell me, and the songs do not have to be by the same people who made the songs that i just named. Oh yea and make sure that their freaky! 😀
And songs like Saving Abel-Addicted, but not too rock like

I have recently finished my first manuscript (NOT first daft, don’t worry ;D) and sent out query letters to agencies. While I have been waiting and idea for another work of fiction struck me and I immediately took my pen (Keyboard) to paper (Computer screen.)
    Here it is.

The story is written in the first person with 3rd person scenes spread throughout the writing to give itt that ‘gripping-quality’.
The protagonists are Dominique Quick-a notorious art thief and his best friend and roommate Michael Oswald. Michael just happens to be a detective with the Asbury police department.
Both friends are aware of the others’ relative occupation and as the story progresses we see Dominique helping Michael catch elusive criminals and in turn Michael helps Dominique stay hidden from the police. (His motive: Dom promises to returrn everything he steals a week after he takes it if Dom accomponies him.)
The story gets interesting however, when Dom is assigned by his office to catch the ‘art-thief that has been plaguing our city’s collectors’
Now Mike is not only struck with a moral dilemma, but could possibly be facing jail time as well if his colleagues find out what it is he has been doing.
As a sub-story; Mr, Jones is also an infamous art-thief; given his name by the small buisness cards he leaves behind with the simple text, “Courtesy of Mr. Jones.”
Dom and Mr. Jones are caught up in a rivalry, both vying for the same target. This also leads to an interesting and unsuspected twist at the end!

Well that was a very rough outline for what I have planned. Plus I saved a few tricks to be revealed when the manuscript is actually finished.
    What dou you think?

First off, I’d like you to know that I don’t want to get this published, I’m writing it for fun. Secondly, it is about vampires and if you have a problem with that you should probably just leave this question now. I write about them because they intrigue me, not because I’m a Twilight fangirl or because they’re the ‘in thing’.

So Dominique (the main char) is a vampire, and Joshua is a human she knows. She thinks of him as an ally and he thinks of her as a friend. He’s stormed in and started kissing Dominique and Joshua thought she was going to throw him off but she started kissing him back and that’s all you really need to know before this part.

As his blood rolled down his bare back and onto the white sheets bellow us, I had to admit that I was being extremely messy.

What do you think? Does it flow and have the right pace? I have asked this question lately, but some of it’s changed a bit. Thanks in advance ;D.

I am currently reading “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand and have a well comprehension of what is happening. However , if it’s one character that leaves me baffled and clueless it would be Dominique. Could someone please explain to me in broader , more simplistic terms of what on earth kind of a person she is , and what she is thinking? I am on chapter 9 of part 2

Why does she hate everyone and destroy that statue of horation so that “nobody would see it” is it because she hates society so much and is a non conformist? what is this “fear” she speaks of that she sees in people that tortures their souls? Why is she deliberately seeking to destroy Howard Roark , and after each time she hurts him, sleeps with him and admires him, but hates him because she admires him!..Is it because he is creating within her a human frailty in her personality or revealing it? Why does she want to be handled violently , or when she gets raped she enjoys it???? She never seems to want to go with the charming rich men, she’d rather be raped by Howard , but whyyyy??? Freedom?Love at first sight, but she hates it because it suspends her and makes her dependent upon him?

Is it because of her freedom ? She is trying to destroy him because he is the only thing that comes between her and her freedom of living . So she seeks to destroy him, but likes him and hates him at the same time because he takes away that freedom and makes her dependent on him , craving him.

I really need help with this character, she’s crazy but smart!

    1. What fate will befall Keating if he betrays his love for Catherine?
    2. Why does Keating both approach Roark for advice and help and take pleasure in making him perform menial tasks while an employee at Francons?
    3. Why is it important to understand Dominique to understand her upcoming relationship with Roark?
    4. What is Ayn Rand’s view of “selfishness” and “selflessness”?
    5. Citing specifics from the story, describe the means by which Keatin seeks to rise to the top of Francon’s firm. Why do they work at Francon’s?

I love a girl I’ve known since 6th grade. She’s loved me since 6th grade. We are now seniors in highschool and have been having a lot of fun with our relationship. We don’t even consider one another girlfriend and boyfriend, but rather ‘lovers’.

She used to have a few problems with physical intimacy, and even told me she was asexual. As any guy should do I told her that it didn’t matter. A few months later, she’s finding the smallest reasons to spend time with me, kiss me, make-out with me, and thoroughly enjoys when I massage he body down after a grueling tennis workout.

I will never tell her this, but asexual people are not attracted to physical intimacy in the way she is.

I love her in a way which can only be described as the love between Howard Roark and Dominique Francon in the book “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand. In other words, she is one of the few things that keeps me awake at night.

During our intimate sessions I’ve been making moves on her body and she responds with consent and pleasure. The only thing is, is that she doesn’t want to have sex. I do. I’ve always seen it as something between two people that love each other, which is clearly the case here.

Neither of us are religious, or follow any dogmas that repress our sexuality, but she insists on not partaking in lovemaking.

Is this something that will pass after enough pressure has built up? Is it an insecurity about this being her first relationship?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello.
I recently read the book ‘The Fountainhead’ by Ayn Rand and I liked it very much. But i have some doubts regarding some parts of the novel. i will be very happy if you explain and clear them to me.

in the second part of the book – which is Howard Roark – the writer has written how Dominique feels about Roark and how she had begun to love him………but there is one thing that struck me odd.
One right Roark comes in her room unannounced and literally rapes her, and still she feels pleasure?! i would not have been surprised if Roark would had told her that he loves her and then made love, but whilst Dominique was unsure that whether the man loves her or not, she later confessed that she liked being raped and i was just “is she crazy?”
if i were in her place, even though i had a crush on the man and wanted him to come to my home,…..if he comes to my room and (i cant believe i m saying this) rapes me, i would not had looked back at him again….
its just that love needs tenderness, which Roark didn’t do. And it is also written that after he left, she had purple bruises all over her and she liked it.
    now, i don’t understand this.
please explain me why is this so.
    all ideas will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Can anal sex lead to someone getting crohn’s disease? I am a straight woman but was wondering if a man does a woman anally or if a man likes a woman to do him anally are these individuals at high risk for crohn’s disease. I read that bacteria in your bowels and either an over active or under active immune system is thought to be the cause of Crohn’s. This is not code talk in any way as there is nothing to code talk about– I am literally asking about Crohn’s disease and anal sex.
