I really love the name Claire, because its timeless, sophisticated, and very feminine. So I really want a middle name that compliments the name, and is also classic, but not one that will remind people of their 80 year old grandmothers.
And meaning is also important to me (picky, I know), and Claire means Illustrious in French.

I like many different types of books and I haven’t read anything in a while and i’m bored lol.

I like these books a lot:
    The Lovely Bones
    Harry Potter
    Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging

And I HATE TWILIGHT, ITS TERRIBLE.

I’ve been going through a phase where I REALLY love these kinds of names for story characters. This story is called “Anywhere But Here” and relates to time travel and space. So any names like that are really helpful!

Other than Luna and Celeste. I like Corona (the ring around the moon) but it’s the name of a type of beer >.<

I thought the name of the book was Star Place, or something similar to that, but I can’t find it anywhere. I remember the cover was dark blue and it had two young girls sitting on top of a slide. The story is about these girls, one white and one black, who become friends despite a segregated society trying to keep them apart.

    Estelle, Luna, Soleil and Celeste.

    Estelle means star
    Luna means moon
    Soleil means sun
    Celeste means heavenly

This would be for a book.

It’s for a story. I need some names, more than one, for a group of little girls, aged between 8-12. They are typical spoiled rich girls with pushy moms who are desperate for their little darlings to become pop stars/actresses/dancers/whatever. I don’t actually know any kids like this, and I wouldn’t use their names even if I did, so I would appreciate any suggestions. 10 points for the best answer.

    Thanks in advance!

Pick one name of a star/constellation from EACH line that you would use as a girls name.

    1. Andromeda, Vela, Norma, Cassiopeia.
    2. Aquila, Ara, Carina, Gemini.
    3. Lyra, Atria, Mira, Talitha.
    4. Vega, Zaniah, Adhara, Rana.
    5. Merga, Meissa, Haedi, Electra.
    6. Avior, Altiar, Chara, Geinnah.
    7. Heze, Heka, Kastra, Lucida.
    8. Navi, Etamin, Sarin, Libra.
    9. Ursa, Sagitta, Dorado, Auriga.
    10. Sirrah, Ancha, Capella, Nashira

Remember, this is JUST FOR FUN. I wouldn’t use most of these names for a baby, although I think some of them are very pretty.

BQ: What is your favorite and least favorite name out of the list? Is there any other celestial inspired names you like?

I gave my friend the names Cassiopeia (girl) and Orion (boy) for their child (Chinese).

Do you think these are good names, or too strange?

What are some good ‘unique’ star or celestial baby names? Please don’t say Skye or Celeste.

    Thanks!
Ha ha ha… don’t take it so serious cathrl69. It’s not MY kid… it’s a Chinese kid. Translation: it’s not on any important documents, so they can change their name whenever they want. Moreover, no one here will mock them or bar them from jobs. Names are not meant to show off, but I also see nothing wrong in choosing a meaningful name that ties a child to something from literature or history. Pretentious applies to naming your child king or queen. Being cultured and intelligent… I hardly can see how that is a negative thing, especially when people are misspelling names in order to be ‘unique.’

QUESTION: If you think the names are too odd, can you please suggest unique (not flowers, jewels, or misspelled names), which are also easy to pronounce (no ‘th’ and no consonant clusters ‘str’, ‘stl’, etc.? I often have to give friends’ children names, but there are way too many kids named Edward, Robert, Jason, Crystal, Lily, Mary, Rose, etc.
